Steve Elbogen Fitness Trainer
Interview Part V March 26, 2008
INTERVIEWER: Steve a friend of mine
James Moser purchased a
stationary bicycle at Sports Authority for about $149.00. I
drove to the nearest store realizing it was a two hour round
trip. When I got to the store thinking I would save on shipping
the closest thing I could find to match the model number my
friend shared was $199.00 the price wasn’t completely depressing
but how I was going to get it into my vehicle and transport it
home with “assembly required” did not offer a solution to choose
from.
Is it possible to get the same benefits from using a stationary
bicycle with the Flowbar?
Fitness Trainer Steve: If everyone
who used a stationary bike achieved the same benefit a Flowbar
workout provides, there would be a lot more fit people walking
around. The problem is you are not moving your weight around.
Unless you are standing and pedaling hard against increased
resistance (as in a spinning class) your perceived exertion is
much higher than real exertion. This tends to lead to the belief
they are working out harder than they truly are. The Flowbar
provides increased muscle strength and gain combined with a
fairly high cardio output.
INTERVIEWER:
On your website flowbar.net
you have some demos on how to use the flowbar, are there any
other streaming videos on your website?
Fitness Trainer Steve: Many - you
just have to click down the menu on the left side on my website
there are several to chose from for you to enjoy the show-s.
INTERVIEWER:
I had a chance to view the
two minute challenge on your website is it scripted and were any
of the people you interviewed paid to participate?
Fitness Trainer Steve: Absolutely
not. They were all random folks coming off the beach who did not
believe they could get so worked in two minutes (or less).
INTERVIEWER:
I understand that some
well known fitness experts have used the Flowbar can you name
some of them?
Fitness Trainer Steve: I've worked
with pros, Olympians, college athletes, and lot's of regular
joe's who are great athletes. You can view some of them under
fitness pros on my website at
http://www.flowbar.net
INTERVIEWER:
I understand you know Jay
Robb, how long have you known him and how did you meet?
Fitness Trainer Steve: I've known
Jay since the beginning of both our careers - back to the 80's.
We met in conjunction with some new products and technologies of
the time. He went on to focus more on nutrition (brilliantly),
and I stayed mainly with fitness conditioning. I still recommend
his program to this day; I hope he's doing the same, you can

INTERVIEWER: Do you have any
suggestions or tips for a new person that’s realized it would be
smarter for them to improve their overall fitness for many
reasons? What would you suggest to them to get motivated for the
spring, summer, fall or winter months?
Fitness Trainer Steve: First and
foremost - get off your butt, and just walk out the door.
Walking is the simplest way to get started. Start working your
way up to 30 minutes, and then increase your pace before you
increase your time. Add simple strength conditioning, which the
Flowbar provides, 3 times per week. Consistency is king! Once
you get started find high output activities that you enjoy. That
is the key to a lifetime of fitness maintenance.
INTERVIEWER:
Do you have any thoughts
on the best times to exercise?
Fitness Trainer Steve: Research
indicates that you are at your highest energy level in the
afternoon; however, morning exercisers maintain the highest
consistency because it's already done when the issues of life
alter your daily plans. That being said, anytime you can get it
in, go for it. That's one of the main reason's I created the
Flowbar - you get a couple of minutes of high intensity in
throughout the day in the simplest fashion. These short bouts
are accumulative and absolutely give results.
INTERVIEWER:
What about nutrition that
would be helpful in an overall fitness plan?
Fitness Trainer Steve: There are
almost too many options out there. Which is a little absurd,
considering that biochemistry is an exact science. I can only
suggest that
Dr. Greg Ellis (Ultimate Diet Secrets) and
Jay Robb offer, in my opinion, real solutions.
INTERVIEWER:
Any thoughts on how to get
ready to have a fun summer?
Fitness Trainer Steve: Don't wait
to get in shape. It takes months. Once you are in shape -
maintain it. Maintenance is a heck of a lot easier than starting
over. That, and go to the beach!
INTERVIEWER: Thank you for
today’s interview it was very informative.
Fitness Trainer Steve: You’re very
welcome. I’m always here to help people learn to live a
healthier, fit life. Just don’t forget about the kids…. They
need our help now more than ever.
